COVID-19 Update 1: Classes and Events

Hello everyone,

With the situation regarding COVID-19 worsening in Oregon, and the recent announcement from Governor Kate Brown issuing a stay-home order, the APICS Portland Chapter would like to provide you an update regarding our classes and future events.

In our previous email that we have sent out to our membership, we have mentioned that we were researching options regarding online/remote attendance for our CPIM Part 1, CPIM Part 2, CSCP, and CLTD preparatory courses. We have now confirmed that we will be able to host these classes online for the time-being. We will be shipping classroom materials directly to registrants to avoid the trip to the PCC Sylvania campus. We are not sure how long this quarantine will last, but when it is safe to do so, we will transition back into the classroom setting.

As far as events, we will unfortunately be cancelling our Top Management Night. Originally, we were planning on hosting Mark Rollins, VP of Supply Chain for Lacrosse Footwear, for a special evening. We know many were looking forward to this event, but with the order in place we will be rescheduling this event to our next board year. Refunds for this event will be processed within the next few days. Our workshops that were planned for April will be pushed back as well. We will provide details on new dates for this in a future communication.

Our Membership Night in May, is still up in the air. The uncertainty of how long this quarantine will last is putting a strain on planning for this event. We will provide more information regarding this in a future email.

These are difficult and challenging times. With breaking news being reported on a constant basis and numerous COVID-19 emails from many companies, we know that it may be hard to keep up. To help with this situation, the APICS Portland Chapter has put together a banner showing the status of our events on our home page at apics-pdx.org:We will continue to issue updates via email as plans continue to evolve.

If you have any questions or concerns, we are here to here to help. The government mandate may deem our gatherings as non-essential, but do know that each and every one of you contribute to making this chapter the best that it can be. Please stay safe out there.
